A CC News Network Festival and Event story:
2024 Battle of Camden Revolutionary War Reenactment
The 2024 Battle of Camden Revolutionary War Reenactment is set to continue its legacy as the largest force-on-force Revolutionary War reenactment in the United States. After relocating from Camden to a more expansive location between Camden and Kershaw, SC, four years ago, the event now takes place just 1.4 miles from North Central High School, offering more space for both reenactors and visitors.
With its new location, the event gained national recognition from The Continental Line and continues to grow. The 2024 event will be held over the second weekend in November and will feature two main components: Education Day on Friday and public reenactment days on Saturday and Sunday. While planning for the event is still being finalized, updates will be made available on the event’s website as details are confirmed.

Education Day:
Education Day is an invitation-only event organized by Liberty Live, Southern Campaign 1780’s education program. It is designed for schools (public, private, and homeschool) and provides students the opportunity to engage in hands-on learning through educational stations set up by reenactors, craftsmen, and merchants. The event is free for students and their chaperones, offering a unique insight into 18th-century life.
Battle Reenactments and Living History:
Throughout the weekend, visitors can witness dramatic reenactments of Revolutionary War battles, complete with musket fire, cannons, and cavalry. Hundreds of reenactors will portray both Crown and Patriot forces, alongside distaff participants (the women and children who accompanied soldiers) and 18th-century artisans. Guests will also have the chance to browse period crafts and purchase reproduction wares from merchants.
This longstanding Kershaw County tradition, now over 50 years old, attracts participants and spectators from across the country, including from the Midwest, New England, and the Deep South. Proceeds from the event support the Liberty Liveâ„ educational programs, which run throughout the year.
