Get ready for one of South Carolina’s most beloved fall events—the 19th Annual Little River ShrimpFest, happening Saturday, October 12th, and Sunday, October 13th, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Historic Little River Waterfront. This family-friendly festival promises two days packed with live entertainment, incredible local seafood, and over 100 vendors showcasing art, crafts, businesses, and more!
Live Music and Entertainment
Festival-goers can enjoy performances on two stages, featuring a wide range of music genres, from jazz to country, pop, rock, and the iconic beach music that celebrates the heritage of Little River. Look out for stilt walkers, balloon artists, and entertainment for all ages! Past festivals have featured big-name acts like Tim Reynolds, Elyse Testone, Nathan & the Zydeco Cha-Chas, Marlena Smalls, Bonerama, and the Dirty Dozen Brass Band.
A Seafood Lover’s Dream
As the name suggests, ShrimpFest highlights the local shrimping industry, with Little River’s waterfront restaurants serving up fresh, local seafood in unique and delicious ways. From shrimp cooked in creative dishes to your favorite festival foods, there’s something for everyone. Even land lovers will find plenty to enjoy from a variety of talented food vendors offering classic festival bites.
Vendors and Local Businesses
In addition to the great food and music, more than 150 vendors will line the streets of Little River, offering unique arts and crafts, local business showcases, and community organizations. Stroll along Mineola and Waterfront Avenues, closed to traffic for this old-fashioned Southern street festival, and explore the many offerings while soaking in the charming atmosphere under moss-draped live oaks.
A Tradition Rooted in Community
First launched in 2004 by the Little River Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Center, ShrimpFest was created to boost tourism and extend the economic impact beyond the busy summer season. Originally known as the Little River Shrimp & Jazz Festival, the event rebranded as ShrimpFest in 2012 to broaden its appeal. Today, ShrimpFest is a celebration of the area’s shrimping roots, its vibrant community, and its rich musical heritage.
The Little River ShrimpFest continues to embody the mission of the Little River Chamber of Commerce to promote community, tourism, and commerce through proactive leadership and involvement. With something for everyone, this is an event you won’t want to miss!
