Charleston Tech Entrepreneur Eric Bowman Arrested on Harassment and Stalking Charges After Allegations by Rep. Nancy Mace

SULLIVAN’S ISLAND, S.C. (April 8, 2025) — Eric Bowman, a Charleston-based tech entrepreneur publicly accused of sexual misconduct earlier this year by U.S. Rep. Nancy Mace, was arrested Monday morning on misdemeanor charges of harassment and stalking, according to Charleston County jail records.
Bowman, 45, turned himself in to Sullivan’s Island police and was booked into the county jail shortly after 6:15 a.m. on April 8. Details of the incidents that led to the charges have not yet been made public. Both charges are classified as misdemeanors under South Carolina law. A stalking conviction carries a penalty of up to one year in prison, a fine, or both.

The arrest follows a controversial Feb. 10 floor speech delivered by Mace, R-S.C., in which she named Bowman among four men she accused of sexual assault, sex trafficking, and other misconduct. Mace’s 53-minute address drew national attention and named her former fiancé and two other associates in addition to Bowman.
Allegations and SLED Investigation
Mace claimed she was drugged and raped after blacking out from consuming two drinks and believes she was “purposefully incapacitated.” She also alleged that she was physically assaulted by her ex-fiancé Patrick Bryant when she confronted him about evidence of these crimes.
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) confirmed Monday that it opened an investigation into allegations against Bryant in December 2023, after being contacted by U.S. Capitol Police.

“Since that date, SLED has conducted multiple interviews, served multiple search warrants, and has a well-documented case file that will be available for release upon the conclusion of the case,” SLED spokesperson Renée Wunderlich said in a statement.
Bryant, a Charleston-based software CEO and former chairman of the Charleston Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce, categorically denied the allegations in a statement Monday night.
“I take this matter seriously and will cooperate fully with any necessary legal processes to clear my name,” Bryant said.
To date, no criminal charges have been filed against Bryant or the other men Mace named. Officials in the municipalities where they reside confirmed no police reports had been filed related to the alleged crimes.

Bowman has strongly denied the allegations, calling them “baseless, repugnant and defamatory.” One of the men named in the speech has since filed a defamation and libel lawsuit against Mace.
Bowman, a software engineer and Sullivan’s Island resident, is the founder and president of Stream Live, a media platform. He is best known as the founder and former CEO of SPARC, a Charleston-based software firm that gained national attention in 2013 when it ranked No. 14 on Inc. magazine’s list of fastest-growing companies. SPARC was sold in 2015.
In 2016, Bowman purchased the Charleston Battery soccer team and its longtime home stadium, MUSC Health Stadium, from founder Tony Bakker for $8.4 million. His tenure as owner was marred by conflicts with league officials and a sharp drop in game attendance. He sold the stadium in 2019 for $6.4 million.
Bowman’s legal troubles extend beyond the latest arrest. In 2023, he was hit with a $4.66 million verdict after reportedly assaulting a man with a golf cart during a 2018 dispute over a $124 bar tab on Sullivan’s Island.
His personal website states that he serves on the boards of several organizations, including YES Carolina (Youth Entrepreneurship South Carolina) and the Harbor Entrepreneur Center, which was co-founded by Mace’s former fiancé.
Mace has since referenced Bowman’s arrest multiple times on social media, stating in one post: “I hope you get everything you deserve, and more.”
As of Tuesday, Bowman remains free on bond. Court proceedings are expected to follow in the coming weeks.
