Gamecocks Win in Oklahoma!
South Carolina Gamecocks made a statement in their first-ever meeting with Oklahoma, delivering a wire-to-wire victory thanks to a dominating defensive performance. The Gamecocks jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, defeating the Sooners convincingly.
Oklahoma’s struggles began immediately, turning the ball over on their first three possessions, setting the tone for a long day. South Carolina’s standout safety, Nick Emmanwori, made his presence known by intercepting two passes, one of which he returned for a touchdown. Linebacker Demetrius Knight Jr. had a monster game, contributing a sack, two forced fumbles, and a key stop on a fourth-down fake punt attempt.

Heading into the second quarter with momentum on their side, Gamecocks head coach Shane Beamer emphasized the importance of winning the turnover battle. “We wanted to dominate turnovers,” Beamer said. His team delivered, winning the turnover margin 4-1, with opportunities for even more takeaways.
The Gamecocks’ defense was relentless, tallying an impressive nine sacks from nine different players, consistently applying pressure and disrupting Oklahoma’s offensive rhythm. The defensive line and front seven wreaked havoc on the Sooners, controlling the trenches throughout the game.

While South Carolina’s defense was the star of the day, the offense managed to hold its own against a tough Oklahoma defense. Quarterback LaNorris Sellers put together a solid performance, completing 17 of 25 passes for 180 yards and a touchdown. Sellers also added 28 rushing yards and, most importantly, protected the ball, finishing without any turnovers.
Josh Simon led the Gamecocks in receiving with 4 catches for 43 yards and a touchdown, while Rocket Sanders paced the rushing attack with 33 yards on the ground.
As South Carolina heads into their bye week, they do so on a high note. The Gamecocks will return to action on November 3 at home, where they’ll face the Texas A&M Aggies, eager to build on this dominant performance.
