Commerce, Georgia Man Sentenced to 20 Years in Federal Prison for Drug Trafficking in Upstate South Carolina
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The final defendant in a significant Upstate drug trafficking conspiracy, Jeffrey Michael Wilson, 54, of Commerce, Georgia, has been sentenced to nearly 20 years in federal prison for his role in distributing large quantities of methamphetamine. Wilson’s sentencing marks the conclusion of a case that uncovered over 89 kilograms of methamphetamine trafficked through South Carolina and beyond.

Details of the Case
On February 22, 2023, deputies from the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on Wilson. During the stop, law enforcement discovered:
- 6,133 grams (13 pounds) of methamphetamine
- A loaded semi-automatic handgun with 19 rounds
- 23 grams of cocaine
- Three grams of heroin
- Delta 8 vape products
Wilson, who had previously served a federal prison sentence for similar charges, was found to have played a major role in a drug trafficking conspiracy responsible for distributing over 89 kilograms of methamphetamine.
Sentencing and Penalties
United States District Judge Donald C. Coggins sentenced Wilson to:
- 235 months (19 years and 7 months) in federal prison. There is no parole in federal prison.
- 120 months (10 years) of supervised release
- A forfeiture judgment of $311,000
Wilson was charged with conspiracy to distribute 500 grams, or more than 1 pound or more of methamphetamine, a crime he continued to commit even after serving a prior federal sentence for similar offenses.

This prosecution is part of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) initiative, which targets high-level drug traffickers and criminal networks threatening communities across the United States. The program employs a multi-agency, intelligence-driven approach to disrupt and dismantle criminal organizations.
