Hurricane Milton Regains Strength as Category 5 Storm Approaches Florida
Hurricane Milton has intensified back to a Category 5 storm as it moves swiftly toward Florida, according to an update from the U.S. National Hurricane Center on Tuesday afternoon.
After temporarily weakening to Category 4, Milton’s wind speeds have once again exceeded Category 5 levels, reaching sustained speeds of 165 mph (270 kph). The storm is now located approximately 480 miles (775 kilometers) from Tampa, posing a significant threat to the region.
In response to the storm’s renewed strength, the hurricane center has extended storm surge and hurricane warnings to include areas along Florida and Georgia’s east coasts. Residents in these regions are urged to take precautions as Milton continues its path toward the coastline.
