John Paul Miller, Myrtle Beach Pastor Arrested on Assault Charge Amid FBI Investigation
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — It’s been a bad week for Myrtle Beach pastor John Paul Miller, 45, he was arrested Wednesday on charges of third-degree assault and battery, according to jail records. Police responded to a reported disturbance in the Market Common area, specifically near the 700 block of Hemlock Avenue, where Miller allegedly became involved in an altercation. John Paul Miller, a pastor at Solid Rock Church, is set for a bond hearing Thursday morning, with another court appearance scheduled for Dec. 10.
The arrest comes amid heightened scrutiny of John Paul Miller, who has been the subject of protests and a recent FBI search following the death of his wife, Mica Miller. Mica, 30, died by suicide on April 27 in Lumber River State Park, North Carolina. Her death sparked national attention and led to allegations from family and friends about abuse in her marriage, which they believe contributed to her struggles with mental health.
Last week, the FBI conducted a “court-authorized law enforcement activity” at Miller’s home on Coldwater Circle in Myrtle Beach. The search lasted several hours, according to neighbors, with Miller’s truck reportedly missing from the property afterward. While no charges have been filed against John Paul Miller in connection with his wife’s death, the investigation continues, with the FBI and U.S. Attorney’s Office remaining involved since the early stages.
Days after FBI agents searched the home of Solid Rock pastor John Paul Miller, people were seen removing furniture and equipment from the Market Common church on Tuesday.
The church, located on Howard Avenue, has been the site of weekly domestic violence awareness protests following the April suicide of Miller’s estranged wife. The church was being cleared out as the removals took place.
CC News Network confirmed Tuesday that Miller has filed articles of incorporation for a new place of worship — Living Water Church at Market Common — listed at the same address as Solid Rock Ministries, according to records from the South Carolina Secretary of State.
The case has drawn public outcry, including a recent protest outside Solid Rock Church, where demonstrators donned purple and held “Justice for Mica” signs. Mica’s family members, including her sister Sierra Francis, have voiced concerns about John Paul Miller’s behavior, citing instances of slashed tires and tracking devices found on Mica’s car. In affidavits, her siblings claim that Mica feared for her safety and expressed concern for her life after filing for divorce just days before her death.
John Paul Miller has denied any wrongdoing related to his wife’s death, attributing her struggles to bipolar II disorder and medication inconsistencies. However, his past controversies have resurfaced, including allegations of inappropriate relationships during his first marriage and other claims from his former wife. Including his most recent lawsuit Miller has filed against Melissa Mancari alleging defamation. The document reveals that on August 30, 2024, a defendant appeared on “The Robbie Harvey” YouTube channel, allegedly making false and defamatory statements about the plaintiff. The defendant claimed to have previously spoken with the plaintiff, who supposedly sought marital legal advice and expressed intent to “destroy” his wife.
Additionally, the defendant suggested that the plaintiff was responsible for his wife’s death, which authorities had officially ruled as a suicide in Robeson County, North Carolina. The following day, the defendant appeared on a TikTok channel, repeating similar accusations, allegedly to damage the plaintiff’s reputation. The plaintiff denies these claims, emphasizing that they are baseless and harmful.
The investigation and Miller’s recent assault charge clearly add further complexity to an already highly contentious case. CC News Network will continue to follow this developing story as more details emerge.
