Man Accused of Killing Sister is Extradited to Rock Hill
ROCK HILL, S.C. (CC News) — Anthony Lopez, 39, appeared in Rock Hill Municipal Court on Friday for a bond hearing after being extradited from Charlotte, North Carolina. Lopez is accused of brutally killing his sister, 53-year-old Lisa Rosenzweig, inside her home on Cauthen Street on November 7, 2024.

Details of the Crime
Rosenzweig’s body was discovered two days later after her daughter requested a welfare check. During the hearing, Detective Robert Smith testified that Rosenzweig had allowed Lopez to live with her as he sought to get back on his feet.
“Lisa Rosenzweig came home, and her brother, seated here today, was waiting for her when she arrived home,” Smith said. “A place where she allowed him to stay, to get him off the street, he brutally murdered her.”
According to investigators, Lopez struck Rosenzweig with an object, resulting in her death. Police initially believed she had been attacked with a blunt instrument based on the evidence at the scene.
Community Reaction
Neighbors in the Cauthen Street area continue to grapple with the shock of the crime. Eric Rollins, a resident, described the overwhelming presence of law enforcement on the night Rosenzweig’s body was found.
“I came home from work that evening, and the streets just lined up. Police, coroners, chaos late into the evening … into the morning,” Rollins recalled.
Rollins also expressed disbelief over the nature of the crime. “Your own sibling that close to you, that’s hard to understand,” he said. “I hope he gets what he deserves.”
Legal Proceedings
Lopez was arrested in Charlotte on December 6 and subsequently extradited to Rock Hill. He remains in jail and is scheduled to appear in court again in March. Authorities are urging anyone with additional information about the case to contact the Rock Hill Police Department.

A Community Demands Justice
Neighbors have voiced their desire for justice for Rosenzweig, describing her as a kind and generous individual who went out of her way to help her brother. As the legal process unfolds, the community continues to mourn her loss while seeking closure in the wake of the tragedy.
This case remains under active investigation.
