Islandton, S.C., — This wasn’t on my 2024 bingo card. But here we are, again. I feel like Phil Connors, and I’m reporting live from Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. It’s Groundhog Day…. Again! Guess what? The old Murdaugh property called Moselle, is for sale! Again!
Nestled in the heart of Colleton County, South Carolina, this remarkable 48.2 +/- acre estate, known as Moselle, offers an unparalleled combination of elegance, functionality, and tranquility. Recently overhauled and meticulously maintained, this property is truly move-in ready, offering the best of Lowcountry living. I’m ready! Who wants to join me?
This news agency was the first to report back in August that Alexander Blair, and Palmetto Low Country Holding LLC were the new owners of Moselle, and they had the opportunity to reshape Moselle’s legacy. It appears they have done just that.
The new owner of the infamous Moselle Estate, where Alex Murdaugh was convicted of murdering his wife and son, has made an astonishing claim that could cast doubt on the former lawyer’s guilt. It was first reported by CC News Network back in August 2024 that Alexander Wallace Blair, who bought the sprawling four-bedroom home on a 21-acre property in Islandton, South Carolina, says he’s uncovered evidence that may prove Murdaugh’s innocence, this information was first reported by Realtor.com and then by the New York Post.
Evidence Left Behind Told New Owner Key Information
Blair acquired the Moselle Estate at auction in February 2024 for $1 million and began renovations soon after. This purchase did not include the full 1,700 acres once owned by the Murdaugh family but comprised the main house and the now-dismantled kennels where Maggie, 52, and Paul, 22, were killed. According to the New York Post, Blair claimed he retained key pieces of evidence from the kennel structure, including the door and window riddled with bullet holes from the June 2021 shootings.
“[Murdaugh] is a big man (6’4″ tall), he was even bigger back then (300+ pounds), and he’s too big for the bullets to have gone through in the way that they did,” Blair told Realtor.com, suggesting that Murdaugh’s size would make it unlikely for him to have fired the shots as the prosecution alleged. While Blair acknowledges Murdaugh’s troubled past, he said, “I don’t think he did it,” and speculated, “Maybe it was karma for other things that he did.”

Unfolding a New Chapter: Moselle’s Storied Past
Located in Islandton, SC, Moselle has been the subject of national intrigue as the site of the tragic deaths of Maggie and Paul Murdaugh in June 2021. In February 2024, Alexander Wallace Blair acquired the estate at auction for $1 million, initiating a complete renovation and reimagining of its legacy. While this purchase did not include the full 1,700 acres originally owned by the Murdaugh family, Blair secured the main house and surrounding 48.2 acres, including the now-dismantled kennels.
A Dream for Equestrian Enthusiasts
Designed with equestrian living in mind, Moselle boasts 10 +/- acres of fenced horse pasture with excellent drainage, making it ideal for training or leisurely rides. With over 48 acres of land, there is ample space to create additional trails or riding areas. Two large barns are conveniently accessible via a separate service entry on Moselle Road, ensuring smooth operations without disrupting the estate’s tranquility.

Abundant Storage and Versatile Amenities
The property includes a massive 100’ x 35’ tractor shed with both open and lockable storage spaces, ensuring all your equipment and tools are well-protected. Additionally, a 130’ x 45’ airplane hangar, which doubles as a barn, provides extraordinary flexibility for storage or other uses. Blair has also begun renovations to install a pond, erect horse fences, and demolish structures tied to the property’s previous chapter, including the private airplane hangar.

No Conservation Easements
Moselle’s 48.2 +/- acre footprint comes with the added benefit of having no conservation easements, allowing the owner maximum flexibility to utilize and enjoy the property as desired.
Bridging History and Renewal
The Moselle estate, steeped in both history and controversy, has been reimagined to offer a fresh start. Blair envisions the property as a secondary residence with a positive new image, remarking that “bad things have happened on every property, but you have a choice to either focus on the negative or to create a positive narrative.” His vision promises to transform Moselle into a place of peace, luxury, and functionality while shedding the shadows of its past.
