Mother of Grant Solomon Arrested in Murder-for-Hire Plot Targeting Ex-Husband Aaron Solomon, Former Nashville News Anchor
By James Seidel | CC News Network | National Investigations Desk
FRANKLIN, TN — The mother of Grant Solomon, whose death in 2020 sparked national scrutiny and allegations of foul play, is now behind bars herself. Angelia Solomon, 53, was arrested Friday afternoon after allegedly attempting to hire a hitman to kill her ex-husband—former NewsChannel 5 Nashville anchor Aaron Solomon.
According to a statement from the Franklin Police Department, Angelia met with an undercover officer in the parking lot of Cool Springs Galleria around 2:15 p.m., unaware that she was actually soliciting a police officer posing as a contract killer. Where does one look for a hitman anyway?
“Put him underground” – A Desperate Plot
Police say Angelia handed over vehicle registration information and promised future payment to have Aaron “disappear” and “be put underground.” Investigators also say she referenced a trust fund that would allegedly become accessible to her daughter, Gracie Solomon, upon Aaron’s death.
Solomon has now been charged with solicitation to commit first-degree murder and is being held on a $500,000 bond.
Who Is Aaron Solomon?
Aaron Solomon is no stranger to Tennessee television. Once a familiar face delivering evening news for WTVF NewsChannel 5, he left journalism and later worked in real estate and insurance. In recent years, he has become the subject of intense scrutiny and viral online accusations surrounding the death of his son, Grant Solomon.
⚰️ The 2020 Death of Grant Solomon
Grant Solomon, a promising 18-year-old athlete from Gallatin, Tennessee, was killed on July 20, 2020, under highly disputed circumstances. According to the original police report, Grant exited his truck at Ward Performance Institute, a local baseball training facility, when the vehicle “accelerated in reverse” and pinned him under the tires.
His father, Aaron Solomon, claimed to be the only witness. By the time first responders arrived, Grant was unresponsive and pronounced dead. No surveillance footage was ever produced, and photos of the scene were never made public. The Sumner County District Attorney’s Office ruled the death an accident and said there was no evidence of criminal wrongdoing.
But not everyone accepted that conclusion. Many rumors surround a South Carolina podcast who were allegedly defaming Aaron Solomon and stopped discussing this case altogether after a cease & desists letter was sent to them.

Gracie Solomon and Allegations of Abuse
In 2023, Gracie Solomon, Grant’s sister, released a YouTube video and an online statement accusing her father of years of sexual and psychological abuse. She also expressed doubt over the circumstances of Grant’s death, saying the official story “never made sense.”
Despite her public statements, Aaron Solomon has never been charged with any crime. He has consistently denied all allegations.
History of Family Court Turmoil
Court documents obtained by Tennessee’s News 2 from a 2014 custody battle reveal a history of volatile allegations and court-imposed restrictions. At the time, a temporary restraining order was placed against Angelia Solomon, citing concerns about her mental health. The order limited her contact with her children to just six hours per week under supervision. The court concluded that Angelia “continues to make baseless allegations of abuse against Mr. Solomon, sexually and otherwise.”
These same documents were referenced by those defending Aaron Solomon in recent years, calling into question Angelia’s credibility—while others argue that a lack of law enforcement follow-up on Grant’s death left a grieving mother with no outlet for justice.
A Deepening Tragedy
Friday’s arrest adds yet another layer of darkness to a saga already steeped in grief, trauma, and unanswered questions. While Angelia now faces a potential life sentence if convicted, public interest in the case has only intensified, especially among those who believe Grant Solomon’s death warrants reinvestigation.
No official comment has been issued by Aaron Solomon, and efforts by CC News Network to reach both parties have gone unanswered.
⚖️ What’s Next
Angelia Solomon is currently being held at the Williamson County Jail awaiting arraignment. Prosecutors have not ruled out additional charges.
The case will now test the boundaries of both grief-fueled motive and long-standing abuse claims, and whether they intersect—or further unravel—a family already broken by tragedy.
