Union County Death Raises Questions After Reports of Standoff, Prior Allegations

UNION COUNTY, S.C. — A reported late-night law enforcement standoff in Union County that ended in the death of a young man has sparked questions across the community, as conflicting accounts and unverified allegations continue to surface in the absence of an official statement.
Multiple sources have identified the individual as Logan Bryce Adams, a Union County resident with prior criminal charges that were later dismissed.
According to several individuals familiar with the situation, law enforcement got involved around 11 PM Friday night, which allegedly escalated into some sort of a standoff. Sources say Adams suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound during the encounter and was transported to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, where he died on Monday afternoon after being taken off life support.
Family members have told others that the gunshot wound was self-inflicted, though no official confirmation has been released by authorities, and at least one source stated that “no one actually saw what happened,” leaving key details unresolved.
As of publication, no formal incident report or public statement has been issued by the Union County Sheriff’s Office or the Union Department of Public Safety, although we have reached out for comment and have received none.

Prior Allegations Surface
In the wake of Adams’ death, several individuals have come forward alleging that he was involved in a separate shooting incident roughly one month earlier.
One source told CC News that Adams “shot at” another individual who is a 17 teen year old minor.
The CC News has independently verified that a shooting report was filed, but an investigator with the UCSO was unaware of one.
Others familiar with the situation have disputed whether any official report was ever made, with one individual stating a detective indicated “there weren’t any reports made,” despite claims from family members that they filed reports.
Those allegations remain unconfirmed by law enforcement.
Court Records Show Prior Charges Dismissed
Public records from Union County show Adams had multiple prior criminal charges:
- 2024: Unlawful carrying of a pistol
- 2024: Possession of Schedule I/II narcotics
- 2025: Domestic violence, second degree
All of those charges were later dismissed (nolle prosequi) by prosecutors.
A nolle prosequi indicates the state chose not to pursue prosecution, though it does not necessarily reflect a determination of guilt or innocence.
Community Divided
Following news of Adams’ death, community reaction has been sharply divided.
Some have raised concerns about whether earlier intervention could have prevented the outcome, while others described Adams as a compassionate individual.
“He was kind… he cared about people… he would give you the shoes off his feet,” one person who knew him told CC News.
The contrast between those accounts highlights the uncertainty surrounding both Adams’ actions and the events leading up to his death.
Key Questions Remain
As the community seeks answers, several critical questions remain unresolved:
- Was there a prior shooting incident involving Adams, and was it formally reported?
- What led to the reported standoff with law enforcement?
- Was the gunshot really self-inflicted or the result of law enforcement action?
- Why has no official statement been released regarding the incident by the Union County Sherriff’s Office?
